It’s a Show Week! Our first competition is this Saturday at Washington Union. We hope you can join us to support the Buchanan Marching Band and all of the bands who will be performing!

Spirit Night Last Thursday
A big THANK YOU to our parents who helped feed over 300 ASI and BHS students in just 10 minutes. You are INCREDIBLE! Thank you to all of our BHS students for making the experience so special for the ASI (future BHS!) band and colorguard students!

Varsity Guard Trip Form Due TONIGHT
Varsity Guard Parents: Please submit your trip form by this evening. We will not be able to purchase flights for World Championships in Ohio tomorrow morning at a low rate without knowing the finances ahead of time. Thank you!

Wind Symphony Audition Results
Preliminary audition results have been post. Re-auditions for open spots will continue through this week via Google Classroom. Click here for more information and the audition results:

Shoe Bag Check on Wednesday!
Every student must bring their Red Nike Shoe Bag on Wednesday with the following items inside (Hornline & Percussion):

  • Marching Shoes

  • Long Black Socks

  • Nike Undershirt (New shirts arrive this week and will be handed out)

  • Black Compression/Sliding Shorts (these are required!)

BEC Jazz Concert - Concert Credit Opportunity
Check out the BEC Jazz Concert Tuesday night at 7pm at Shaghoian and get your Concert Credit done! For BHS Jazz Students: Jazz B Report Time ON STAGE: 6:15pm and BHS Jazz A Report Time: 6:30pm

St. George Trip Form
The St. George Trip Form is now live. This needs to be completed by the parent/guardian of every member of the marching band by Friday, October 11, 2019. Please read the trip letter, then click ‘Launch Form’ at the bottom. Here is the link:

Last Friday, October 4th was our second donation date if you elected to make a one-time donation or monthly donations to our program. These donations are based on the student information and pledge form. Our budget is built on promised donations, so it is critical that donations come in as promised. Visit our donate page to find instructions and more information.

BHS Band Truck Renovation
In an effort to organize our volunteers and streamline this process, please take a moment to complete this brief survey (everyone we’ve already spoken to directly about the project should complete this survey too):

Marching Band Apparel, Show Posters, and Patches
Now on sale in the Charms Online Store. In some cases, in limited quantities, or on a tight deadline for ordering. Most of you will want one of each! Order now in the Charms Online Store! Deadline for show apparel is Friday!

Uniform Pressing Party - Thursday Night!
Parents - We will be doing a “Pressing Party” during rehearsal on Thursday night so the students look their best at the first competition. Please bring a iron and come help out! We also need help that evening with aa easy hand sewing project. If people have questions contact Valerie Hinkle at. 559-930-2878.

Hornline Google Classroom Assignments
Over the remainder of the season, all members of the hornline will be responsible for submitting video recorded excerpts of the student performing each section of the show. Instructions and due dates are all provided in Google Classroom. The first assignment was due Monday and the next one is due Friday! The class code is: 1ljksju

Concert Credit Opportunity - Wind Symphony of Clovis
The Wind Symphony of Clovis will be performing alongside the Clovis East Wind Ensemble Sunday, October 13th at 3pm at Paul Shaghoian Concert Hall. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students/seniors and they will be available at the door. 

FMCMEA Audition Material
The audition excerpts for the 2019-2020 FMCMEA Honor Ensembles are now available on the FMCMEA website: Information on how to register will be available soon!

BEC Instrumental Music Jacket
Get your BEC Instrumental Music Jackets! These wind & water resistant black soft shell jackets are 8.8 ounce, 94% Polyester & 6% Spandex. All text and logos are embroidered. Try on a sample jacket before selecting a size. Sample jackets are located inside the Band Office. Jacket cost: $100.00. Sizes XS-XXL. Jackets can be purchased on the Charms Store.


Pictures Taken Saturday Night
You will have the opportunity to purchase the photos taken last Saturday night later in the season after we take our individual and section photos. This will most likely be in November.

Colorguard Sectionals
There will be an optional Colorguard sectional rehearsal every Wednesday from 3pm-4pm until the end of the season. This is a great way to get extra help with the show!

Bass Drum Sectional
For the rest of the season, the bass drums will have a sectional on Tuesdays from 3pm-4pm.

Marching Band Competition Attendance is MANDATORY.
Our competitive season is just a few weeks away and we wanted take a moment to remind everyone of the Competition Attendance Policy: “Attendance at shows & performances is expected from the beginning of the scheduled itinerary until the very end. Missing a show or performance is grounds for dismissal from the ensemble.” Please review the calendar and plan accordingly. You can find the entire attendance policy here.

Rehearsal Attire
Students are expected to have the appropriate rehearsal attire for all rehearsals that occur outside the school day as well as block day rehearsals. Don’t forget water, a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen!
