Attention Seniors! Fresno State MB & Bulldog Beat

This letter is in regard to your graduating senior's scholarship opportunities at Fresno State. Regardless of major, your students are eligible to receive a number of different scholarships for their participation in our ensembles at Fresno State. The top scholarship is for their participation in the Bulldog Beat, which is comprised of saxophones, trumpets, mellophones, trombones, guitars, keyboard and drum set. These musicians received $6000 in scholarship support this past year and we expect to increase both the amount and the size of the group as we move forward. Any student who wants to audition for this scholarship group, regardless of major, should go to our web site and follow the instructions on registering and downloading the audition packet for their instrument. The audition will consist of scales, chromatic scale, two prepared etudes, sight-reading and a short improvisation piece. Please encourage them to visit our web site and audition on January 26, 2019!  A master set of packets can be found online at the following address:

Another exciting aspect of the Bulldog Marching Band is that our members are also eligible to receive a scholarship for performing in the BMB. Scholarships range from $400 for the semester and go up to $2000 for instruments of need and for highly skilled and talented performers, regardless of major. Please encourage your color guard and percussion students as well and they are also eligible for the same type of scholarship from our $150,000 pool of money designated for the Bulldog Marching Band.

The BMB has enjoyed a lot of support from Fresno State and besides the performance opportunities, camaraderie, and social aspects.  We are also traveling quite a bit having been to Hawaii, Los Angels (twice), Boise, and Las Vegas all within the past year. Travel is free for all students and we would love to have your seniors join us for the 2019-2020 season!

Should your senior need another reason to get excited about performing in the BMB, we are getting a new uniform this spring that will be worn at our first game in the fall. This fresh, new design is lighter, brighter, and much more BOLD, which will surely grab the attention of our fans on game days!

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I hope to come visit you in your school this spring!
