Dear Buchanan Chamber Orchestra Parents/Guardians,

We have exciting travel plans in the works for the Chamber Orchestra this spring! Here is a brief summary of two trips we hope to take:

Homestead Orchestra Festival: We will travel via charter bus to the San Francisco Bay Area on February 7th & 8th, stay overnight (hotel), and attend the Homestead Orchestra Festival in Cupertino. Depending on budget constraints, this may be changed to a one day trip.

Pacific Northwest Spring Tour - Charter Bus - Hotel stays
Wednesday, March 6th: Evening flight from San Jose to Seattle.
Thursday, March 7th: Festival performance at Central Washington University.
Friday, March 8th: Seattle free day and Seattle Symphony Concert.
Saturday, March 9th: Portland area festival performance.
Sunday, March 10th: Flight from Portland to San Jose, charter bus trip home.

The field trip fee will cover:

  • Roundtrip Airfare & Charter Bus Transportation to Airport

  • Charter bus transportation for entire itinerary

  • All Lodging

  • Admission Fees

  • Festival Fees

  • Several Meals

The total field trip fee for the direct costs (transportation, festival fees, lodging, etc.) associated with these field trips is $500.00, which is due in payments of $125.00 on the first of each month, December 1st through March 1st.  Please complete and return the trip form (link below) by Wednesday, November 14, 2018.

If you have any questions regarding this trip or have a potential conflict with the dates, please contact John Lack, Director of Orchestras at JohnLack@cusd.com or 559-327-3404.

Though this trip is not graded, it is an important part of the overall experience and the student’s participation is expected. Any student who does not attend this trip will be required to complete a significant alternative assignment in lieu of the experiences gained from this trip.

We encourage all students (and parents!) to participate in current fundraisers. This is a great way for students to earn trip credit to offset their trip expenses.

We need parent chaperones to make this trip a success. If you would be willing to chaperone the trip, please indicate that on the trip form.

This will be a fun and educational experience for our students. We appreciate your support!
